Admission to primary school is often a very anxious time for parents.  Due to COVID-19 and the restriction of visitors on site, this year we have produced a short video in place of our regular school tours during the Autumn Term.  You can view this above.

We hope that this, combined with additional information available on this page, will give you some insight as to what life is like as a member of the school community at Naunton Park Primary School.

Any child born between the above dates can start school in the school year starting from 1 September 2021. Gloucestershire County Council co-ordinates the admission of children to primary or infant school therefore you must apply to them to receive a school place for your child by the closing date 15 January 2021.

If you have not heard from them by 1st December, you must contact them so they can send you the information that you will need to apply for a school place. If you do not apply on time you may not get a place at the school you want.

Key Dates

November 2020 - you should receive a letter from GCC advising you how to apply for a school place

15 January 2021 - deadline for making your application

16 April 2021 - allocation day

New starters for Reception in September 2021

September Transition

We are really looking forward to your child starting in school and we are committed to smooth and timely transitions that allow each child to settle in, get to know their teacher and make friends.  At the start of this letter, you will see that your child has been given a transition group (either A or B).  Each group will do different days for the first few weeks of term, please see below:

Week beginning 30th August

INSET day on Thursday.  No Reception children in school this week.

Week beginning 6th September

Group A:  attends school Monday and Tuesday 9.20am to 2.45pm

Group B:  attends school Thursday and Friday 9.20 am to 2.45pm

Week beginning 13th September

Group A:  attends school Monday and Tuesday 9.20am to 2.45pm

Group B:  attends school Thursday and Friday 9.20 am to 2.45pm

Week beginning 20th  September

Group A:  attends school Monday and Tuesday 9.20am to 2.45pm

Group B:  attends school Thursday and Friday 9.20 am to 2.45pm

Week beginning 27th September

All children in 8.55am to 3.15pm (these timings are to be confirmed in line with COVID guidance nearer the time, as we currently operate staggered starts/finishes)

On your child’s first day, please bring them into the playground at the rear of the school, through the lower gates.  If social distancing measures have been lifted by this point, we ask that the children line up at the coloured fence. The start of the line is marked by a red or green cone. Reception staff then take the children in from there.

Similarly, at the end of the day, we bring the children out of the classrooms and through the outside area to the gate. We let them go to their parent, one at a time, from the gate at the coloured fence.

If social distancing measures remain, please follow the advice of senior leaders who will be on duty at that time.

Lunchtimes

Your child will be staying in school for lunch from their first day.  They may either bring a packed lunch from home or order a school lunch (free of charge as they are under the age of 7).  These lunches are ordered in the morning, in class, and vegetarian options are available.  If you would like your child to have a school lunch and they have a food allergy, please ensure that you have notified the school office.
